Fill me in…

Tons of activity in #jazz this past week. One sound that landed in the channel is by a Belgian group called STUFF. They describe themselves as a “five-headed instrumental cyclops that takes you through a journey of mashed up grooves and eclectic sounds”. S/O to @edwin for enlightening us with their track ‘Skywalker’:

STUFF. - Skywalker (Live)

Over in #idm, we’ve been giving Floating Points’ new album, Elaenia, a listen thanks to NPR and @jimmiehu. We warned y’all not to sleep on him a couple months back and as he releases his album on Nov. 6, we don’t have to wait much longer to see if he’s the truth. NPR’s write up on his sound and history do justice...definitely check it out. For now, here’s “Silhouettes” which was pre-released and is accompanied with visuals:

What else is going on?

Yesterday was Dìa De Los Muertos and listeners to NPR’s podcast (yes, NPR again) Alt. Latino put together music to remember past family members by. Music from Charlie Chaplin, Calle 13, Celia Cruz and more all made the list. If you forgot to celebrate yesterday, here’s your chance to make up for it with some tunes.

If you think topic popularity on Google is a good benchmark for the popularity of musical genres, this might be a bit depressing...unless EDM is the only type of music you like. I choose to believe there is hope for the other genres, although #electronic is our most popular channel as well :/

Don’t sleep on…

Glasgow native, Christopher Duncan dropped his debut album Architect about a week ago...week ago. The 25 year old got started composing music for a BBC1 program, has a degree in music composition and could have a bright future ahead of him...at least FATCAT Records think so. Presenting C. Duncan’s ‘He Believes in Miracles’:
