Fill me in…

The name Nicolas Jaar is not foreign to most #electronic heads in the community and this past week, things got exciting over in that channel. Jaar dropped a 20-track album for free entitled, Pomegranates which includes a note from the man himself discussing the origins of the tracks accompanied with some artwork. If you’re unfamiliar with his music, the latest post on the channel might give you a good idea of his sound.

@revrev has officially resurrected the #metal channel! I’m the wrong person to be writing about metal music so I’ll keep it short and try not to sound stupid. Slayer is a name I’ve heard before and they’re still making music. Metal fans: ROCK...ON.

What else is going on?

Folk/rock legend, Neil Young just released a new album by the name of The Monsanto Files. He’s never been a man that holds back his opinions and it doesn’t take a genius to decipher the motive behind his most recent music. Whatever your position is on the matter is, Mr. Young and Monsanto seem to disagree and Monsanto claims misinformation:

"Many of us at Monsanto have been and are fans of Neil Young. Unfortunately, for some of us, his current album may fail to reflect our strong beliefs in what we do every day to help make agriculture more sustainable. We recognize there is a lot of misinformation about who we are and what we do – and unfortunately several of those myths seem to be captured in these lyrics."

Oh...and Apple Music comes out today.

Don’t Sleep on…

There’s a small tribe of us over on the #afro channel and @jimmiehu’s arrival has just made it a whole lot better. I gotta hand it to him for introducing us to Polyversal Souls who’ve recently released their debut album, Invisible Joy. The musical collective was put together by a musician named Max Whitefield who traveled to Ghana and felt compelled to showcase Ghanaian musical talent to the world under a partnership with the LA based label, Now-Again Records. I’m very excited to see what Polyversal Souls has in store for us in the future.
