Fill me in…

The #electronic channel seems to never fail when it comes to bringing the sounds. This past week, @mobileaddict shared with us an Edwin Oosterwal edit of Joris Voorn’s “Mugged”. Edwin is yet another talented dj/producer that claims Holland as home and is somewhat a veteran in the game. He partnered up with Joris back before 2005 and they created one of the most recognized electronic labels the country has to offer: Rejected. Electronic heads, this is for you:

For those of us in the northern hemisphere, fall is arriving and that can mean a change in pace. Switching things up a bit, here’s a track off of the #ambient channel by Jeremy Young & Aaron Martin. The music was released as a four-part piece under the small Japanese label, White Paddy Mountain, and is the first collaboration between Young and Martin. This is music that will definitely take you somewhere if you let it.

What else is going on?

It looks like the U.S. Department of Justice still cares. They’ve just shut down the largest file-sharing service in the US, Sharebeast. They hope it will boost the use of legitimate access of music, but the streaming services haven’t always made artists happy either. The only hope is putting trust in music lovers to continue to want to help artists, because if not, there will always be a way around the restrictions.

For fans of contemporary #classical music, the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt is the man. For four consecutive years, his music has been performed worldwide more than any other composer (according to Bachtrack). For non-fans of contemporary #classical music, this is important and we better recognize because he just turned 80 last week. The clip below is a preview of a documentary giving us a glimpse of a year in the life of Mr. Pärt himself. The full documentary will be released Oct. 30.

Don’t sleep on…

Gary Clark Jr., the Texas-blues musician, has climbed the ranks of the genre in recent history and has been catching ears with his impressive guitar licks ever since he got his start around 10 years ago. #blues fans are most likely keen to his music, but to those wanting to dip into a present-day expression of the genre that shaped much of American music, don’t sleep on the dude. He’s just released a new album, The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, but the word on the street may suggest you’ll be more entertained with the older stuff. Here’s a clip of him tearing up the stage which does pretty damn well.
