For the week of May 1, 2016

In case you missed it, we've released a fifth episode of The Needle Podcast

Fill me in…

Lots of music passed through the popular channels this past week, but in surfacing what you may have missed, it brings us great pleasure to bring you some #blues. Straight outta 1978 comes R.L. Burnside with a sound that’s about as raw as it gets...complete with sounds of crying babies in the background.  It seems less and less rare that undiscovered talents are finding popularity towards the very end of their music-making career and R.L. Burnside is no exception. There’s quite a story behind the guy so if you dig the music, it’ll definitely be worth checking into. S/O to @newmerator for bringing us “See My Jumper Hanging on The Line”

R.L. Burnside: See My Jumper Hanging On the Line (1978)

A little #jazz here and there suits most everyone’s taste and thanks to @abhirag, we got the fix we need. What an amazing sound Mammal Hands can make when they’re put to good use. The group is set to release their next album, Floa, on May 27 and if it sounds anything close to as good as the song they’ve released off of it, we’re in for treat. Here’s ‘Hourglass’ accompanied by visuals worth watching.

What else is going on?

In case you missed it, lots and lots of music was released this past week. Here’s a list for you:

...and probably much much more.

Don’t sleep on…

London Beat Scene Specialist, Reginald Omas Mamode IV. Recently, he did a flip for Gilles Peterson’s Havana Club Rumba Session project and has since been doing shows with other notables like Al Dobson Jr. and Tenderlonious. And last week, the folks at Stamp The Wax featured his remix of The Invisible’s ‘Save You’ released with Ninja Tune. Only up from here.
